About the Iowa City Municipal Airport

The Iowa City Municipal Airport is located two miles southwest of Downtown Iowa City in Johnson County. Iowa City is the home of the University of Iowa, with an enrollment of approximately 30,500 students. The Iowa City-Cedar Rapids corridor is one of two principal economic growth areas within the state. The Airport is integrated into the activities of the colleges and athletic department at the University of Iowa, as well as the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and medical school. The Iowa City Municipal Airport is strategically located in close proximity to Interstates 80 and 380, as well as U.S. Highways 6 and 218, and Iowa Highway 1.

Meeting Room

Overlooking the airport’s bustling ramp, our meeting room accommodates up to 40 people. Equipped with a conference table, chairs, a projector, and outlet access, it’s an easy alternative to hotel meeting space.

Viewing Area

The latest addition to the airport features a covered picnic area, plane watching deck, children’s play space and mock runways. Come learn more about the airport’s storied past and its connection to the community. Follow along with all the action through a bird spotter’s guide located on the viewing area deck.

Simulator

Whether you are a flight training student or an experienced pilot, improve your skills on our Redbird TD2 simulator. The Redbird TD2 is FAA approved as a Basic Aviation Training Device.
